International Understanding Day 2012!

Hello! ;D International Understanding Day is back! And this year, we the Interact Club of SMK Subang Utama, have decided to let you understand....... INCREDIBLE INDIA!! :D

A lot of people think that India is some really hot place with lots of poor people lying on the streets. But it's not. India is so much more than that. For example, did you know that India's population speaks around 30 different languages, among which Hindi, Kashmiri, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Nepali are included?

AND, DID YOU KNOW THAT THEIR TECHNOLOGY IS 30 YEARS AHEAD OF US?

India also features a wide array of traditional clothing, food, and practices. With such a diverse culture, India truly is.... INCREDIBLE.

And therefore, we want to share it with you. :)

The details of the events are as follows:

Date: 1st April 2012 (Sunday)
Time: 4pm - 7pm
Ticket price: RM 10 per person
Dresscode:
- Traditional Indian Attire (Kurta/Punjabi Suit).

That would be a waste, now, wouldn't it? So dress decently and come for an awesome time! :)

Authentic Indian cuisine will be served, and there will be some seriously awesome Indian performances on the day itself! Also, the IU committee has some surprises in store.

Annual General Meeting 2012.

On the 7th of January 2012, SMK Subang Utama had their Annual General Meeting (AGM) when all students were required to pick and join for one club under 3 categories for the year. The categories are: Uniformed Bodies, Academic and Non-Academic Clubs, and Sports Clubs.

And so the Interact Club of SMK Subang Utama had their AGM too! :D

This was the turnout for the morning session AGM, not too bad if I do say so myself. :)

What happened was the Board of Directors along with Pn Rajes, our teacher advisor, briefed the members on what was Interact all about and also what upcoming projects we had for the year.

There are some pretty exciting projects coming up, such as the International Understanding project, trip to Furry Friends Farm (an animal shelter), trip to an underprivileged home, recyling projects, fundraising projects, and many more! :)

There was also our Membership Drive which was on the 14th of January and a pretty good success. :)

President Madeline (left) briefing the members about general Interact stuff while our teacher advisor Pn Rajes (centre) looks on.

Community Service Director Tze Yun (left) and Assistant Heng Wei introducing themselves and talking about upcoming projects.

Same thing happening with Club Service Director Ganendra (left) and Assistant Arvind.

All in all, the attendance for AGM was great, both the morning and afternoon sessions, and I hope to keep seeing all you awesome members at all our projects! :)

Int. Charlene.
Peace out. ;)

43rd Interact District Conference

Hello, Interactors! :D

From the 12th till 14th November, 7 Interactors from SMKSU had a chance to experience the opportunity of a lifetime, that was to be present at the 43rd District Conference! ;D The conference was held at Nur Laman Bestari Resort, Jalan Ulu Yam.

It was truly an awesome experience for the 7 Interactors. These 7 Interactors were Madeline Ashlee Lok, Charlene See, Wong Mei Kuan, Victor Nicholas Gan, Arvind Bhaskaran, Ganendra Vivekananda & Stephen Chong. Not only did they get to meet new people, they also had a chance to experience living in the woods for 2 nights.

This year the Conference was organized by the Rotary Club of Klang and the Interact Coordinating Council of Klang.

Here are some of the snapshots taken at the conference.

Our Interactors shared a bus with Interactors from our sister schools: SMK Seafield, SMK Bandar Sunway and SMK USJ13.

This is one the first day when we first arrived. Everyone was still getting settled in.

Our Interactors doing their "LIKE A BOSS" face while wearing their BOD jerseys. :P

Interactors Ganendra and Victor with Emil, a German student who is here in Malaysia as part of the Interact Youth Exchange.

This is just some of the beautiful scenery our Interactors got to feast their eyes upon for 3 days.

On the 2nd and last night, there was a great campfire going on and everyone got the chance to fellowship with each other in the dark. ;)

On the way back home, our Interactors along with their busmates decided to take a detour to Batu Caves.

Cavemen and women. :P

All in all, it was a great and fun experience, so kudos to the Rotary Club and ICC of Klang! :)

On a side note, dear members, Interact SMKSU will be having their annual Interact Gathering 2011 at our dear Publicity Director's house. For more info, click here. If you attend, not only can you bond with the BODs but you will also meet all the awesome people that were at Conference! ;D

Over and out,
Int. Victor
Int. Charlene.

Interact Conference 2010.

Hello Interactors! Many apologies for this very dead blog. However now that I am here, it shall be revived! :D

Okay, so from the 3rd to the 5th of Dec there was the 42nd District Interact Conference. This year it was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Seremban and held at the Royale Bintang Resort, Seremban.

10 out of our 14 BODs went. These lucky people were:

Sara, Melanie, Jo Anne, Lisa, Jasmine
And Tze Yun, Madeline, Yi Hua, Pei En, Charlene

If you wanna find out what's their posts go check under the BODs section. :P

This is all of us who went.

Another without Melanie and Jasmine.

We stayed in 2 duplex suites that had 2 stories. And nearly all of us screamed like mad cows when we first came in. It even had a staircase!

The view as you enter our duplex suite. :)

We met a lot of Interactors from other schools, they were from all over Peninsular Malaysia, actually, and the sessions were... QUITE interesting.

Also, 1 of the MCs for Formal Night was none other than our very own Funding Director, Madeline! Don't have a picture of her MC-ing, unfortunately.

During formal night, the Senior BODs excluding Jo Anne and Madeline with Wey Leuk, an Interactor from MBSS.

The ballroom where we had our sessions and formal night dinner.

Our table number! :D

Interact family photo missing 3 more BODs and all of our members.

It was a heck lot of fun and the juniors really got to bond with the seniors. The Interact Club of SMK Subang Utama would like to thank the Rotary Club of Seremban for organizing this awesome event. :D

Also, I would like to thank President Sara and Vice Pres Melanie on behalf of all those who went for arranging our transport, keeping us in line, and guiding us while we there. :)

And a big Thank You to Treasurer Lisa Chan for letting me grab the pictures to update this blog. For more pics, go to Lisa's album here.

Till next time,
Your awesome Asst. Funding Director,
Charlene See. XD

General Update + Information about Nominations Process

Hello! *blows off the dust on this blog*

Sorry for the extreme lack of updates! We've all been busy with school and other stuff. Mid-terms and all, I'm sure you understand.

Throughout that all, Interact's been going underground, if you get my meaning. :D

No I don't mean illegal underground, I just mean, we've been keeping things on the down low. It may seem like we haven't got anything going on but that's far from the truth.

In late March, we started our nominations process. In April, the nominees were given the Sports Day project, as is tradition. To all the people who bought from Interact Club on Sports Day, thanks! You guys helped make the project a success. Also, from that project, we started to see the potential in our future BODs.

The nominees were also given a hand to plan the I.U Project. I myself am not too sure of the full details, but I hear it's going to be pretty damn awesome.

Other than that, the nominees were also given a task to plan two virtual projects. About 2 weeks after Sports Day, they were asked to present one of those virtual projects. Personally, all of the teams impressed me in different ways. I can't divulge anymore than that, sorry!

Their next virtual project - the camp - will be presented after the holidays, if I'm not mistaken. Look forward to that, because if the plan is real good, we just might be planning the real thing!

Throughout the process so far, I personally have seen a lot of potential in the nominees. Some have impressed me, some have tried to impressed but failed, some have surprised me, some have warmed up to me and some have shown me their true colours. But all in all, I suppose the nominees this year aren't too bad a batch. (*sniffles* I still think my year had the best batch of nominees. :D)

BUT the nominations process isn't over yet! There's still the evaluation of the I.U. Day Project as well as their interview. MUAHAHAHA, I've been waiting for this day forever!! HAHA. Don't worry, I'll try to be nice. :)

Also, several Interact members joined the bowling competition held by Bandar Sunway Rotary about a month or so ago. I heard it was great fun but I didn't go, so I suppose you'll have to wait till one of those who did go decide to speak up about it. :)

P.S: Please keep an eye on the blog for updates on I.U Day. I really wasn't joking when I said I heard it's going to be awesome. No, srsly.

- Int. Geraldine, Secretary.

New School Year + What We've Done So Far + Future Activities

The new school year has started!

I'm sorry the blog is getting slightly dusty but now that school has started again, we're gonna have a lot more activities (and hopefully, more updates!).

This year's AGM was kept simple and it was quite a success, if I may say so myself. What really impressed me was that we had quite a number of people who turned up for the interview the next day. To those guys who turned up for the interview, THANK YOU! You have no idea how much that helped us to know your perspective on things and we're really grateful for that.

For those who didn't attend the interview though, no worries. As long as you frequently attend the meetings (remember to get your attendance from Int. Liew Sher Mun, the tall spiky haired dude), you are a member of the Interact Club. On the other hand, even if you attended the meeting but you do not come for the meetings nor do you actively participate in our activities, your name will be cancelled out.

Also, for those not in the know, today was our first official General Meeting of the year. We had a pretty decent turnout, with both familiar and new faces in the crowd. We had several announcements made about the I.U Project as well as the Friendship Day Project. We also had a little sketch about Italy and we all learned some new facts about Italy.

Did you know that we have the Italians to thank for smelling good? The cologne was invented by an Italian!

Members were moderately participative but I must commend the members for paying attention to us most of the time. :)

Special thanks to the members who helped out with the Italy sketch!

Oh and make sure you guys come for the next General Meeting! There might be another hilarious sketch like that. :D

In somewhat related news, there will be a Production for Friendship Day tomorrow (16-01-2010) from 8am to 11am at No. 93, Jalan SS19/4. Bring your stationeries, glue and scissors! For more details, please call Int. Sarah at 016-3160125 as she's the one in charge of this project. Thanks.

Project AID

Project AID: Appreciating Interactors Day! Started with a senamrobik session (thanks to Sher Mun who insisted we do it lest we wanted our legs to fail us and break) then a game of Captainball! The rain and mud did not deter us, as Team Cheese went agains Team Rollie Pollie Ollie.

Sher Mun briefing members about the game.

Later we played the infamous Table Talk, where we all got soaked to the bone!

It is fitting to say that Project AID has acheived its goal: to get to know members and bring them closer, the old-fashioned way, having LOADS OF FUN!

Waiiiiit for it.....

Anyone else welcome to upload pictures from the even here! My current uploader is being a tortoise.

Editor :)
